Tube Fly: Senyo's Mini Egg Stealing Sculpin

The Sculpin Finishes out at about 2 inches long and fishes extremely well under and indicator on a dead drift.

Step#1: Marry a piece of 1.5 inch long Eumer x-small tubing to a 1.0 inch long piece if medium tubing with Uni 6/0 black thread. Coat thread with a drop of Zap-A-Gap.

Step#2: Attach a 1.5 inch long piece of dark olive rabbit zonker strip.

Step#3: Tie in a pair of 2 inch long rubber legs to each side of the x-small tubing. The color of the rubber legs used here is Missouri Craw from Net Craft Fishing Supplies.

Step#4: Fold rubber legs toward the rear of the tube, and center tie in a small clump of Senyo's Brown Laser Dubbing.

Step#5: fold over laser dubbing and comb out any loose material.

Step#6: Build a small thread head in front of dubbing and apply a drop of Zap-A-Gap on the thread. Cut off the tying thread and slide on a 8mm mottled tangerine egg bead ( From Trout Beads) tight to the thread head.

Final: Remove tube fly and trim x-small tubing leaving just enough to melt with a lighter a small mushroom of plastic to the front of the egg bead. Pattern uses a Diiachi 1650 #8 tube fly hook.

Here is a fast, simple, and easy to tie sculpin on a tube. Pattern also imitates a realistic steelhead egg, so you get a two for one deal out of it. I like to fish the Mini Egg Stealing Sculpin on a dead drift under and indicator. This pattern finishes out at about the same size as a #8 woolly bugger, and is dynamite on Steelhead alley tributaries like Elk Creek and Conneaut Creek.

Tube Fly: B.O.B (Boy O' Boy) Minnow

Here is the requested tutorial of the BOB's Minnow adapted into a tube version. I had these pictures taken before I lost my good camera to the Brooks River in AK. The next tutorial will be the "Spey Minnow" previewing in the Orvis News this month. I should have the new Camera by Monday!!! Thanks Greg..

The BOB's Minnow

Step#1: Marry a piece of .5 inch extra small Eumer tubing into a 1.5 piece of medium tubing.

Step #2: Attach 6/0 Red Uni thread and wind to rear of medium tubing. A light coat of super glue on the thread at the junction of the two tubes is applied.

Step #3: Tie in clump of natural white Arctic Fox tail. Tail length is roughly the same as tube body.

Step #4: Attach a 3 inch long piece of Small or Medium Pearl Estaz.

Step #5: Wind Estaz to form an even body. Tie down and trim left over estaz leaving roughly a 1/4 inch x-small tubing exposed.

Step #6: Attach 6 strands of Pearl Flash-A-bou over the body extending the length of the tail.

Step #7: Palmer on a large Gadwell or Mallard feather.

Step #8: Create a small thread head, whip finish, and cut off thread. Apply a drop of super glue to the thread and slide on a Red Eumer Cone head.

Final: Trim and melt tubing flush with cone, and add a Diiachi X510 #10

Tube Fly: Senyo's Kid Bow

This pattern was requested by a gentleman who wanted a rainbow trout tube pattern he could use for pike, bass, and other predator game fish in his Area. It just so happens I was working on a Rainbow pattern last year that was used to imitate the millions of juvenile Steelhead Trout planted into Pennsylvania's Lake Erie Tributaries during the spring. I hope you like the tutorial and thanks for all your requests...
Greg Senyo's Kid Bow with #2 Gamakatsu drop shot hook.

Step#1: Attach red 6/0 thread to a 2.o inch piece of Eumer medium plastic tubing. Center tie in a sparse clump of pink laser dubbing, and fold material over on itself.

Step#2: Center tie in a small hunk of Hare Line's Pearl Ice Dubbing and fold over onto itself.

Step#3: Tie in a small sparse amount of two inch long Gray T's Fur "Bionda Fleece". (Fleece can be found at http://www.tubeflytech.com/).

Step#4: Attach 2 strands of Magenta Flash-A-Bou over the wing.

Step#5: Tie in a sparse hunk of 3 inch long extra light olive Bionda fleece, and two strands of pearl Flash-A-Bou.

Step#6: Tie in small hunk of 4 inch long dark olive Bionda Fleece and secure. Lightly coat the thread head with Zap-A-Gap and cut the thread.

Step#7: Attach a pair of Gold/Silver/Black Gator Eyes. Fellow tyer and friend Nick Wright of Deer Creek recently sent me samples of these eyes, and they are absolutely awesome to use when tying bait fish patterns.

Step#8: With a black Sharpie marker place random spot patterns on the Bionda Fleece wings.

Step#9: With a Red Sharpie Marker make gills behind each eye on both sides.

Step#10: With finger nail polish paint the bottom and sides of the tubing and allow to dry. Here I am using Revlon's Color Illusion #010 Pearl flash color, that I have secretly stolen from my wife! The color is awesome for this pattern...

Step#11: After nail polish has dried ( less than 5 minutes) Apply a large bubble of Loon's UV knot Sense between the eyes. Cure with UV Light for about 20 seconds.. Turn fly back upright and place a sparse amount of UV Knot Sense over the head and between the eyes, and cure once again. The weight of the epoxy from the large bubble under the eyes is what makes this pattern swim and balance correctly.

Final: The finished Rainbow Trout Tube Fly, I like to call the Kid Bow..
Good tying and fishing!!!

Another version: Senyo's Little Bucket Mouth ( Baby Large Mouth bass)

Tube Fly: Simple Finn Raccoon Emerald Shiner

First we would like to thank everyone for your feed back and requests! Right now we are about a dozen requested fly tutorials behind and we will get them all done this summer. Next in line was a request for the easiest way to tie a Emerald shiner on a tube. Here is a super fast Emerald with tons of motion and can be tied in any size you want.

Simple and Effective Emerald Shiner Tube Fly

Step #1: Marry a 2 inch long piece of Eumers x small tubing with a 3/4 inch piece of Medium tubing. Attach white 6/0 Uni Thread and wind toward tube junction laying a thin even coat of white thread on the x-small tube body. Wind thread back to front of tubing about 1/2 inch from the front.

Step #2: Attach a sparse hunk of white Finn Raccoon fur and secure.

Step #3: Rotate the pattern 180 degrees and add 8 strands of Olive Pearl Flash-A-Bou and secure.

Step #4: Attach a piece of large silver plastic bead chain and secure. A drop of super glue will help set the eyes in place.

Step #5: Rotate the pattern 180 degree back to original starting position. Tie in a sparse hunk of olive Finn Raccoon fur right in front of the silver eyes and secure.

Final: After you build a solid thread head, whip finish, cut thread, and cement head. Cut off remaining tubing in front of the thread head, leaving just enough to melt and mushroom the x-small tubing flush to the head. Preferred hook is a Diiachi X 510 #10
You wanted simple and you got it, and we did not have to sacrifice movement or profile to do it. Finn Raccoon is an amazing fur and a little goes along way in the water. Finn Raccoon is the new Marabou!!!! You may use weighted bodies or heavy eyes for more weight, but a sink tip system though not necessary is preferred.

Tube Fly: Senyo's Steelhead Alley Stone Fly

Requested Tutorial; Stone fly nymph tube for Steelhead Alley
Here is a version of a stone fly nymph that I came up with last year while guiding for steelhead. The pattern finishes out at about 1-1/8 inches and is best fished solo under an indicator. Especially worked well late fall into winter drifted slowly through the deeper pools where steelhead prefer to hold during that time of year.

Step#1: Join a 3/4 inch of Eumers x-small tubing with a piece of 1/2 inch medium Tubing.

Step#2: Attach black 6/0 Uni thread and wind toward rear of tubing. Leave 1/8 inch of the tubing exposed.

Step#3: Attach 3 strands of Black Crystal Flash to each side of the medium tube. tails should be roughly 5/8 inch in length.

Step#4: Attach a 3 inch piece of small black vinyl or plastic ribbing.

Step#5: Wrap the body of the tube evenly with black vinyl ribbing.

Step#6: Attach a piece of metallic blue tinsel, this will create the wing case.( same stuff you get on a spool in silver or gold to make tinsel wrapped minnow bodies, like the body of a Mickey finn.) Second attach a sparse clump of black rabbit fur, so that the tips of the fur are no longer than the vinyl body and secure.

Step#7: Dub a BB sized thorax with Hare Line's Orange Ice Dubbing, Pull over the blue wing case and secure. Fold wing case material back toward rear you still need it.

Step#8: Apply another sparse amount of black rabbit fur and secure.

Step#9: Dub a second BB sized thorax of Orange Ice Dub, and pull wing case over the top and secure. You can cut of extra wing case material now.

Step#10: Attach a third sparse clump of black rabbit fur, and also attach 3 half inch pieces of black Crystal Flash to each side of the pattern.

Step#11: dub your last BB sized thorax and build a small thread head. Whip finish and apply a drop of super glue.

Final: Slide a small black or gun metal finished Eumer tube cone flush to the last thorax. Trim extra tubing in front of the cone, leaving just enough to melt and mushroom the tubing flush to the cone. Add a Diiachi x510 or equal to the rear of the tube..
